Skill Assessment Reminder:
For 2020 we have created three skills categories. We require that you evaluate your skill-level honestly to determine which sessions are appropriate for you. If a coach determines that your skill-level doesn't fit with a particular session, they may remove you from that session.
There is a possibility of being upside down in all three levels. In the introductory sessions the upside down - or flip/swim/roll..etc - will happen in a safe and/or controlled setting. In the intermediate and advanced sessions, the upside down can be unintended due to the more dynamic conditions.
Introductory Skill Level
Introductory offerings are for folks that are new to kayaking or have never tried a particular skill before. As with all sessions there is a risk of capsizing, but, with the exception of the Rolling and Bracing sessions and our rescue sessions, capsizing will not be one of the goals of the session.
Introductory sessions include:
Intermediate Skill Level
Intermediate offerings are for folks that are looking to apply skills in progressive environments, expand skills sets, and to combine existing skills. Intermediate sessions introduce more dynamic environments to the paddles.
Intermediate Sessions Include:
Advanced Skill Sets
Advanced paddles have been in dynamic water (2m+ seas, 3kts+ currents, tide races..etc) and are comfortable in dynamic water around obstacles. These folks have have experience rolling their kayaks, can self rescue quickly, and can competently assist another paddler.
Advanced sessions include:
