Gordo grew up in the 1970′s where he was told from a young age, “It’s nice outside. Go out and play.” So, he did. Gordo has backpacked on the AT (not the whole thing, but parts of it) and around Mt Rainier, biked a century, rock climbed in Acadia NP, camped at a National Boy Scout Jamboree, hiked to within a hair’s breadth of Half Dome in Yosemite, played beach volleyball on the Atlantic coast, snowshoed in the Maine woods, kayaked in and around the Maine Coast, Monterey Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico, mountain biked in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and photographed in dozens of national parks. Not a day goes by that Gordo doesn’t think about/dream of/plan for his next outdoor adventure.
In 2007, Gordo moved to the coast of Maine and began sea kayaking shortly thereafter. Since then, he’s guided for local outfitters in Bar Harbor and Dear Isle and instructed for Pinniped Kayak in Ellsworth, and was an assistant instructor at WISKS in 2018.
