We need you to be honest with yourself and us about your skill level, as once we depart the put in area, the coaches will not allow you to leave your group for safety reasons.

Intro

Any Skill level with a touring kayak (One bulkhead front and back).

No prior courses and little experience (Paddle Canada Intro to kayaking or no courses)

Not comfortable in rough water (waves over 1 foot)

Not comfortable with the possibility of capsize (have never experienced or practiced)

Not comfortable in current that moves the kayak (Over 0.5 knots, ~1 km/hr, 0.5 mph).

Not comfortable paddling distances in any wind or current (4km into the wind and current)

Intermediate
-
Proper Sea Kayak (or will be renting one), min 13' with bulkheads and a rudder or skeg.

Prior courses (ACA, BCU, Paddle Canada L1+ Sea kayak) or moderate experience.

Somewhat comfortable in waves (2-3' in height).

Somewhat comfortable with the possibility of capsize (have experienced it before, can competently wet exit with a skirt on, maintaining contact with kayak and paddle (If you don't know how to do that then into is you jam> where we will teach you how).

Somewhat comfortable in current (you don't mind current that may be able to flip your kayak and make it more difficult to advance your position) (1-2 knots, ~2-4 km/hr, ~1-2mph).

Somewhat comfortable paddling moderate distances into the wind and current (2.5-4NM/5-8km).

Proper Sea Kayak (or will be renting one), min 13' with bulkheads and a rudder or skeg.

Prior courses (ACA, BCU, Paddle Canada L2+ Sea kayak) or respectable experience.

Comfortable in waves (3'+ in height).

Experienced with capsize, can solo re-enter or roll.

Comfortable in current, can attain in 2.5-3 knots.

Comfortable paddling longer distances into the wind and current (10+ Nautical Miles/20+ KM).
